Chile: Government passes a package of measures to relaunch the economy

Chile has presented a package of measures to relaunch the economy by boosting productivity. The 22 provisions specifically focus on three areas: expanding and improving the financial conditions offered especially to SMEs and to companies investing in technology and innovation; promoting higher exports in the service sector and streamlining companies’ bureaucratic and investment procedures. Some of the measures’ most relevant provisions include enabling insurance companies and pension funds to include infrastructure investments in their portfolio, extending VAT payment exemption to a larger number of service exporting companies and proposing a bill in Parliament, announced for the third quarter of 2016, to create an online platform dedicated to notarial certification procedures.
