La Valletta – “Mediterraneità Europea” international conference to be held in Malta

The international conference entitled “Malta: identity of and identifying with the Mediterranean Civilisation, or the Mediterranean trait of Europe” will be held in Malta on Thursday, April 14 at 10 a.m. at the Italian Institute of Culture (IIC) in La Valletta. It will be a forum for debate, reflection and exchange. “The myth of Europe induces us to change spatial conditions and to literally and literarily try to think in terms that are geographically the opposite of what we have always been accustomed to in thinking of the European continent: from a consolidated Euro-Mediterranean vision we can go back to having a perspective of Europe from its Mediterranean character. This conference proposes to debate the past and present aspects of the Mediterranean’s cultural heritage by using a multi-disciplinary and comparative method to explore aspects of the history, philosophy, literature and arts that promote inter-cultural dialogue and respect for the diversity of Mediterranean cultures,” reads a note on La Valletta’s IIC website.
