The first of a series of meetings with prominent Russian and Italian cultural figures took place at the Italian embassy in Moscow. The occasion saw the presence of the famous Russian fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin, who gave a talk on the “Adventures of a Russian artist in Italy” in which he spoke about his travels and work experience in the Italian world of fashion, also discussing the current state of the fashion industry in Russia. The evening envisaged a dialogue with the chief editor of Vogue Russia Viktoria Davydova, who accompanied the designer in narrating his biography. Italian ambassador in Moscow, Cesare Ragaglini, while appreciating the Russian passion for Italian fashion designers and brands, remarked that fashion in its highest manifestations is art and also emphasised how its character was strongly innate to the aesthetic sense and historical traditions of Italians. The speech by the longest established and most famous of Russian designers was enriched by a brief but brilliant fashion show of women’s evening wear and the display of the fine fabrics of his fashion house, which were very well received by the audience representing above all the luxury and fashion sectors and the media.
