China – Italian Consulate in Chongqing holds photo competition for Chinese tourists

The Italian Consulate General in Chongqing recently organised a photographic competition for Chinese nationals who applied for Italian visas in 2015. The aim was to reward Chinese tourists who have visited Italy and highlight their stories and the emotions they experienced on their trips, in a bid to attract new visitors. The “Meeting with You – Falling in Love with You” competition proved extremely popular and the 80 best photographs were selected by an eminent jury headed by Consul Sergio Maffettone and including professional photographers Zeng Chaohua, Liu Jiale and Lv Zhongmin.

There were two categories, “camera” and “cellphone”, further split into “landscapes” and “people”, with three winners in each section. The winners were awarded an all-in trip to Italy, two return airline tickets from Chongqing to Rome and useful camera and cellphone accessories. At the award ceremony, Mr Maffettone said he hoped “the number of citizens from Chongqing applying for Italian visas will rise”, and that they would “discuss their impressions of the country on their return to China”.
