Stuttgart – Focus on Friedrich Heider’s depiction of Italy, enchanting and picturesque

Friedrich Heider’s love for Italy and art are some of his distinctive features. Heider and Italy are bound by deep-set ties: a love relationship which began and developed during his many journeys to this dreamlike tourist destination, like many other Germans. Italy’s wealth of culture on one hand and, on the other hand, its manifold enchanting landscapes is what sparked off the artist’s passion and drove him to focus his painting interest, completely free from any rule, on this Country. The outcome is a vivacious and dizzying interplay of shapes and colours fully expressing the most fantastic imaginings. His imagination-rich creativity will be on show at the Italian Institute of Culture (IIC) in Stuttgart (Kolbstr. 6) from Friday, 22 April, to Wednesday, 29 June. The exhibition was organised by the IIC and the Deutsch-Italienische Gesellschaft Mühlacker in collaboration with the Freunde des Italienischen Kulturinstituts Stuttgart e.V.
