Stockholm – The IIC opens its doors to Sergio Castellitto as a star of contemporary cinema

Sergio Castellitto will be the guest star of the Italian Institute of Culture in Stockholm at 6 p.m. on April 12. As part of the series entitled “The Stars of Contemporary Cinema”, Mr Castellitto will present to the public his latest film “Nessuno si salva da solo” (“You Can’t Save Yourself Alone”). Based on its fictional namesake by Margaret Mazzantini, the film was released in Italian cinema theatres on the 5th of March last year. The film screening will be followed by a debate with the director who will answer questions from the audience. The film, featuring Riccardo Scamarcio and Jasmine Trinca, was also shown in Lisbon at the “8 1/2 Italian Film Festival” (at the Cinema São Jorge in Lisbon). Castellitto, now at his fifth film as director and his third cinematographic adaptation of a book written by his wife, Margaret Mazzantini (who also wrote the screenplay, as for the previous films), this time narrates the story of a couple: Delia and Gaetano. The two were once married and have two children, Cosmo and Nico. They have recently separated and she still lives in the family home with the children while he lives in a condominium. Delia, who once suffered from anorexia, is a nutritional biologist and Gaetano writes scripts for TV programmes. Delia and ‘Gae’ meet to have dinner in a restaurant to apparently discuss how to organise their children’s vacations but the encounter will turn out to be an opportunity for the two characters to retrace their love story and find out why it ended.
