Germany – Italy guest of honour at German Gardening Fair

Italy was a guest of honour at the International Landscape Architecture and Gardening Fair, held at Schloss Fasanerie, the historic estate of the Prince-Electors of Hesse in the German town of Eichenzell. The privilege confirms Italy’s excellence in the field of protecting and maintaining historic landscapes and in the food and wine sector.

Italy’s participation in the 17th edition of the event was promoted by the Hessische Haustiftung Foundation, with the support of the Italian Institute of Culture in Cologne and the General Consulate in Frankfurt. The initiatives organised for the occasion included the creation of a work of art in the centre of the estate by artist Antonio Ambrosino and concerts by the Lombardini Trio and the Vucciria and Roberto Falcone group. There were also specialised workshops on caring for Mediterranean plants and their value not only in terms of landscape, but also as a source of food, with a particular focus on citrus and medicinal herbs.

There were many Italians among the 160 exhibitors, along with a delegation from Como, the Italian sister city of Fulda featuring historic gardens that are among the most beautiful in Europe. The Castle’s collection of Italian art treasures were also showcased at the Fair. The initiative will be repeated from Sept. 16 to 18, at Schloss Wolfsgarten in Langen, near Frankfurt.
