London – “Missoni Art Colour” exhibition opens at the Fashion and Textile Museum

The “Missoni Art Colour” exhibition has opened at the London Fashion and Textile Museum and will run until 4 September 2016. The exhibition, organised by the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Italian town of Gallarate with fashion house Missoni, and with the support of the Italian Embassy in the UK, explores the influence of 20th century European art on the print of textiles manufactured by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni. More than 40 paintings by European artists, including Gino Severini, Lucio Fontana, Benedetto Vedova and Sonia Delaunay, are on display. They all had a strong influence on the creative process of fashion house Missoni form its inception. A large proportion of the works, from Gallarate MA*GA Art Museum and private collections, are on show for the first time in the UK. “Missoni Art Colour” is a visual experience enhanced by the display of colourful tapestries, fabric design sketches and other design sketches. “Missoni Art Colour” is the first, large-scale celebration of the iconic Missoni fashion house in the UK. It confirms the relevance the Italian brand still has in the world. Rosita and Angela Missoni attended the opening with the Italian Ambassador in London, Pasquale Terracciano.
