Zambia: Enel Green Power wins a contract for a solar power plant
Enel Green Power won a contract in Zambia for the financing, construction and concession for the operation of a 34 MW photovoltaic power plant promoted by the Solar Scaling in Africa Project. The Project is implemented by the World Bank/IFC and the Zambia Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). Solar Scaling is part of the “Power Africa” initiative launched by U.S. President Barack Obama and financed by UsAid and by the Foreign Ministries of Sweden and Denmark. The aim is to install a 600 MW photovoltaic power capacity in Zambia, of which the first 100 MW are divided into two lots and constitute the first phase of an ambitious project that will be followed up with a new tendering procedure for the remaining 200 MW.
