European University Institute of Florence – Dehousse elected new Rector

Renaud Dehousse has been elected new Rector of the European University Institute of Florence. Supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which represents Italy on the Council of the European University Institute, the election comes a few months after Ambassador Schioppa Narrante was appointed Secretary General of the Institute and one year after Italy took up the presidency of the EUI Council.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has for many years provided 33 scholarships for Italian PhD students and 24 for foreign students, is committed to driving the steering body of this international organisation towards a relaunch of the whole European project, laying the foundations for further development of the Institute.

Dehousse, who was previously director of the European Studies Centre of the renowned Science Po Institute in Paris, was also a PhD student and subsequently a director of department at the EUI, a further guarantee of continuity and progress for this prestigious institution, serving European ideals in keeping with the strategic direction imparted by the Member States.
