Albania: Tirana and AGSM establish “EcoTirana” joint venture

A memorandum of association was signed yesterday for the establishment of EcoTirana, a new joint venture owned by the Municipality of Tirana (51%) and AMIA (49%), a multiservice environmental health company based in Verona, which is part of AGSM, in turn 100% owned by the Municipality of Verona.

Last December, AGSM signed a cooperation agreement with the Municipality of Tirana for the management of municipal waste in the Albanian capital, which was open to other areas of cooperation, including water and public lighting. The parties have now formalised this agreement by signing the memorandum of association of EcoTirana. The agreement will run for 25 years and provides for the company to be entrusted initially with the management of solid municipal waste in the city centre, a service which may subsequently be extended to other areas.
