Giulio Bonazzi, CEO and Chairman of Aquafil Group, a leading Italian company manufacturing yarns for the textile industry, said that “Italy has a wealth of human capital and capacities and skills. It is a country where companies can grow and projects for today and tomorrow can be developed. “Mr Bonazzi made his statement in a conversation with John Lloyd, a Contributing Editor to the Financial Times, on the occasion of the third TRIPLE I meeting, which was held on Friday morning at the Italian Embassy in London. The talk was part of a series of lectures dedicated to “Italian Imaginative Innovators” promoted by Italy’s Ambassador Pasquale Terraciano. TRIPLE I is meant to promote Italian companies before a distinguished audience of London City traders, financial journalists and investors. Previous events saw the participation of important Italian business leaders, such as Alberto Nagel, CEO of Mediobanca, and Antonio D’Amato, Chairman of Seda Group.
Aquafil, headquartered in Arco, a town near Trento in the Trentino Alto Adige Region, is a Group with 16 plants in eight countries. Established in the 1960s as a family business, Aquafil has become one of the world’s leading players in the production of continuous filament yarns for carpets and garments, above all using recycled and waste material. Ambassador Terracciano, in his opening speech, emphasized the value of environmental sustainability which has become all the more central to the production sector following Paris COP 21 in December 2015. “The entrepreneurial spirit of Aquafil and its CEO Giulio Bonazzi, based on perseverance, resilience and and the capacity to reinvent oneself when faced with difficulties, is precisely what Italy and Europe need at such a complex time, especially following the referendum held in Britain on June 23,” Ambassador Terracciano concluded.
