Melbourne – Translating Erri De Luca to win an Italian literary prize in Australia

Translators will have till August 31 to apply to take part in the Literary Translation Award promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute in Melbourne. The award is addressed to Australian translators in the states of Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, and Western Australia, with the aim of promoting Italian literature translated into English and rewarding excellence. Participants are required to submit their translation of the short story “Il Pannello” by Italian author Erri De Luca. The winner will receive a cash prize of 3,000 Australian dollars for the completion of a translation project, a return flight to Italy, and a one or two months’ stay in Rome’s Casa delle Traduzioni (House of Translations) at the beginning of 2017. The winning translation will be published, accompanied by a short comment by the translator, in the journal of the Australian Association for Literary Translation
