The Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) in Cologne has organised an evening of music and art within the framework of the “Italiana – Un ponte sul Reno tra due culture” (Italiana – A bridge on the Rhein between two cultures) music festival, which will be held in the German city from 23 September to 23 October. The IIC event, entitled “Le strade del jazz” (The streets of jazz), will take place on 23 September at 7 p.m. It will also feature the opening of the photographic exhibition “Le strade del jazz: giorno” by Roberto Cifarelli, an exploration of the relationship between photography and jazz. The exhibition is organised as part of the Internazionale Photoszene Köln Festival.
It features pictures taken in various Italian cities known for their jazz scene, especially snapshots of musicians as they leave with the audience after their show. The exhibition is split into two parts: after “Le strade del jazz: giorno” (The streets of jazz: day), the second chapter “Le strade del jazz: notte” (night) will run from 20 to 23 October at the Altes Pfandhaus in Cologne. During its event on 23 September, the IIC will also host a lecture by Stefano Zenni, Artistic Director at the Turin Jazz Festival since 2013. The evening will end with a jazz concert by Salvoandrea Lucifora (trumpet) and Alessandro Palmitessa (saxophone, clarinet, and EM).
