The 2016 Rural Development Report presented at the Farnesina

Italy’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, IFAD President, Kanayo F. Nwanze, and the Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs and Finance, Enrico Morando, this morning will open the meeting at the Farnesina to present the 2016 Rural Development Report by the International Fund for Agricultural Development – IFAD.
With a view to promoting an overarching transformation of agriculture, Paul Winters, IFAD Director of Research and Impact Assessment Division, will illustrate the 2016 Report’s key data. A debate following the Report will include contributions by Laura Frigenti, director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, Julio Berdegué, principal reserarcher in RIMISP, Latin American Centre for Rural Development, Winnie Byanyima , Director of Oxfam International, Elba Viviana Caro Hinojosa, former Finance and Development Planning Minister of Bolivia and Director of the InterAmerican Development Bank – IDB –  in Peru, and Mandivamba Rukuni, former professor of Agricultural Economics at Zimbabwe University. MAECI Director General for Development Cooperation, Ambassador Pietro Sebastiani and IFAD Vice President , Michel Mordasini, will draw the conclusions of the meeting on the basis of the report and subsequent debate.
