Bulgaria – The artistic history of Sofia told by Angela Occhipinti

The solo exhibition “Il mondo del mito e la spiritualità tra passato e presente” (“The World of Myth and Spirituality of the Past and Present”) by Italian artist Angela Occhipinti, an icon of Italy’s contemporary art scene, will run at Sofia’s National History Museum until 16 October. Organised by the city’s Italian Cultural Institute in conjunction with the Museum, the exhibition was set up for Sofia’s festivities on 18 October. “The World of Myth and Spirituality of the Past and Present” is dedicated to the history of the Bulgarian capital over the millennia and represents a variety of works based on four elements: air, water, earth and fire. One painting contains all the most significant dates from the foundation of the city of Sofia to date. Ms Occhipinti has had a brilliant career: in addition to having been conferred numerous awards, she is considered as an Italian point of excellence around the world. In the last few years she has been invited to hold lectures on etching techniques and art books at the Universities of Chicago, Stockholm, Ankara, Istanbul, Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Rabat, Tainan, Taipei, Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Salta, Sao Paulo. Her works can be found in private collections and modern art museums in Italy and abroad.
