On 29 October the Italian Diplomats National Team will play in the 1st UAE-Italy Friendship Tournament at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The event, sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Italian Embassy in the UAE, is a charity amateur football tournament designed to raise funds, through the Emirates Red Crescent, for the populations of Amatrice and Accumoli, severly struck by the earthquake which rocked Central Italy on 24 August. The Tournament is also intended to further strengthen the friendship ties between Italy and the UAE, by sharing a sports event representing an act of great solidarity.
Four are the teams that will be playing in the Tournament: besides the Italian Diplomats National Team, which was created in 2011 with a view to promoting charity events in Italy and abroad, there will be the Team of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Al Wahda FC Team and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council Team.
