‘Startit.asia’ (https://www.startit.asia/), a programme to support the internationalisation of Italian start-ups, has been launched. The project is the result of a collaboration between the Italian Consulate General, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Macao, the Innovative Companies Incubator of the Polytechnic of Turin (I3P), the consultancy company P&P Ltd. and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP). The aim is to make the most of Hong Kong as a launchpad for the Asian expansion of Italian start-ups with a high potential for growth and innovation. The programme provides for the publication of a ‘Call for Proposals’ in Italy by 5 April this year to gather projects that will be selected by a committee coordinated by I3P. By 21 April, a shortlist will be drawn up of 5 start-ups, which will have the opportunity to experience a week’s full immersion in Hong Kong at the beginning of June, as part of the Soft-landing Programme managed by HKSTP.The Soft Landing Programme is a support platform for start-ups, spin-offs and research teams wanting to promote their ideas and technology to industry in Hong Kong, and thence to continental China. The programme offers participants dedicated work spaces within its facilities, with the opportunity to participate in seminars, networking activities and match-making with the local scientific community, as well as workshops, production site visits and meetings with the business world.
