The Head of the Diplomatic Protocol of the Italian Republic, Riccardo Guariglia, and his Turkish counterpart, Şevki Mütevellioğlu, signed and exchanged letters on 2 March alllowing for the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Italian Republic and the Government of the Republic of Turkey entered into in Ankara on 26 June and 5 July 2000. The Agreement enables the family members living with the diplomatic, consular and technical and administrative staff officially posted in the territory of the parther State to work there. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation promotes this type of agreement (including other bilateral protocols pursuing a renewed common interest, such as the one implementing the Agreement on social security), being aware of the contribution that can be made towards local economic and social development and to strengthening diplomatic relations between the two Countries if the family members of the accredited diplomatic Missions are allowed to perform a working activity there.
