Italy-Yemen Relations: the MAECI-SIOI project for 11 Yemenite diplomats is about to start

Eleven Yemenite diplomats will be attending a Master Programme on Geopolitics and International Relations organised by SIOI in conjunction with the General Directorate for Political Affairs and Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The Programme will run from 7 to 20 May 2017.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by: Franco Frattini, SIOI President, Diego Brasioli, Central Director for Mediterranean and Middle East countries, Ashmahan Altoqi, Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen in Italy and Gianfranco Petruzzella, Special envoy of Italy for Yemen.

The project, part of the activities being conducted in support of Yemen, proves the efforts Italy has made with great determination to promote a closer bilateral cooperation and to contribute to the training of Yemenite personnel, providing a proper know-how and a focus on the ‘core sectors’ related to institutional levels in the field of international relations.

The rich training programme will encompass a variety of subjects from international law to the international protection of human rights with special focus on geopolitics and an analysis of international relations. The diplomats will also attend seminars of ‘practical diplomacy’ on communications and intercultural negotiation, the protocol and diplomatic protocol, digital diplomacy and social media. The Programme’s trainers are university professors, Italian diplomats and international experts.

The Master Programme will end on 19 May in the afternoon, when attendees receive their diplomas at the Farnesina.
