Japan – Jazz, seven dates to keep in Japan for the Vezzoso-Collina duo

Kyoto, Nagoya, Miyazu, Kobe and Kitakyushu are the cities marking the stops of trumpet player Marco Vezzoso and pianist Alessandro Collina. The two Italian jazz musicians are getting ready to leave on their tour of Western Japan, which schedules seven concerts between 28 August and 3 September. The tightly packed tour was organised thanks to the efforts of the Italian Cultural Institute in Osaka, directed by Stefano Fossati. He explained: “One of the most satisfactory outcomes of this project is the network of relations with local businesses and institutions that made it possible to organise such a large number of concerts and with which we organised other events in the past: two Japanese Municipalities (Miyazu and Nagoya), two Italian cultural associations operating in Japan (‘Italiana’ and ‘Isolacara’) and three local associations specialised in jazz music (the ‘Live Spot Rag’ in Kyoto, the ‘Mosrite Café’ in Kobe and the ‘Premium Marche Azul Terrace’ in Osaka).” In Kyoto, the Italian musicians will play with two well-known jazz musicians: Norihide Nakajima (drums) and Yasuhiro Yoshigaki (drums). In Nagoya, the performance by the Vezzoso-Collina duo will be part of the initiatives organised to celebrate the twinning between Turin and the Japanese city.
