Myanmar – Stefano Bollani performs a solo piano concert in Yangon

“Both Italy and Myanmar attach great importance to art and culture. Our two nations have a special heritage that goes back thousands of years and is rooted in ancient civilizations. We can use our heritage today to build our future. At a time of strong inter-ethnic tensions, music  – being a universal language capable of bringing together people of all backgrounds – represents a means through which we can appreciate cultural and language diversity, ” said the Italian Ambassador to Myanmar, Pier Giorgio Aliberti, introducing the solo piano concert by Maestro Stefano Bollani. This was his first performance in Myanmar. Organized by the Italian embassy, the event was hosted at the iconic Strand Hotel in the historical city center of Myanmar’s capital city. The hotel dates back to colonial times, and has been recently renovated. The concert was the most important event in the “Italy in Myanmar 2017” programme, an initiative the Italian Embassy organized with a view to promoting Italy in Myanmar. The 2017 programme featured several initiatives through which the Burmese public was able to appreciate Italian art, cinema, music, fashion, design and cuisine.
