As part of the Italian Festival in Thailand 2017, the Italian Embassy is honoured to present a concert by M° Stefano Bollani at 7 p.m. on Friday, 10 November, and at 4 p.m. on Saturday, 11 November, 2017 at the Prince Mahidol Hall, a very modern hall with more than 2,000 seats.
Stefano Bollani is considered to be one of the most important jazz pianists in the world and, through different partnerships, has succeed to express his art in different forms and contexts, spanning across classical music, jazz and pop music. Proof of his versatility is also the success of his books and of the radio and television programmes that he has presented on major Italian channels.
He has performed with some of the world’s most prestigious classical orchestras (Gewandhaus Leipzig, La Scala, Santa Cecilia, ON Paris) and, at the same time, also with some of the great masters of jazz, including Chick Corea, Caetano Veloso, Hector Zazou, and Richard Galliano. He was awarded the insignia of Commander of the Italian Republic in 2016, an honorary degree from the Berklee School of Music in 2010 and the title of best European jazz musician in 2007 within the European Jazz Prize in Vienna. He has published 44 CDs, 30 of which were recorded in a studio. Of these, 13 were recorded with the extraordinary trumpet player Enrico Rava, with whom Bollani has shared many projects.
In Bangkok, Stefano Bollani will offer the world premiere of his composition “Concerto Azzurro”, in addition to Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and “An American in Paris”, in a double performance.
Maestro Stefano Bollani will be accompanied by the prestigious Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by its recently appointed Chief Conductor, Maestro Alfonso Scarano, in a performance unparalleled by any other.
