Italian Development Cooperation

“The Italian Official Development Assistance has grown for a fifth consecutive year, bucking the international trend. Italy stands by its commitments on cooperation,” said the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, regarding the data released on the OECD website pertaining to the 2017 Official Development Assistance (ODA) of the Member States of the DAC (Development Assistance Committee).

In 2017, the net Italian ODA reached 0.29% of Italy’s Gross National Income (GNI). This is an increase from 2016, thus confirming Italy’s fourth ranked position among G7 Countries for the ODA/GNI ratio. With more than 5.7 billion dollars, Italy ranks sixth among the DAC donors for net ODA. This confirms Italy’s ODA growth in the last few years, in accordance with the national law governing the Italian development cooperation.
