The Conference for Libya opens in Palermo

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, is in Palermo today to attend the Conference for Libya.

The Italy-hosted Conference aims to promote Libya’s stabilisation process within the framework of the UN Action Plan and in the full respect of Libya’s ownership of the process, as illustrated by the United Nations Special Representative for Libya, Ghassan Salamé, in his briefing to the UN Security Council on 8 November.

The Conference is divided into two parts: a technical part scheduled on 12 November, broken down into several sections attended by the major players on the Libyan scenario, and a political part, with a Plenary Session chaired by Prime Minister Conte and attended by local and international political leaders on 13 November.
