USA – Sparkle wins the MEF18 “Best MEF 3.0 Implementation Project 2018” and “Silver Proof of Concept” awards

Sparkle, a company of the TIM Group dedicated to developing international services and one of the leading ten global operators, was conferred the MEF Best MEF 3.0 Implementation Project 2018 and the Silver Proof of Concept awards at a ceremony held in Los Angeles, as part of the MEF18 networking event held from 29 October to 2 November.

MEF18 is a global event dedicated to creating agile, assured and orchestrated communication services for the digital economy.  This emerging “MEF 3.0” services provide an on-demand experience with user- and application-directed control over network resources and service capabilities. They are delivered across a global ecosystem of automated networks powered by LSO, SDN, and NFV. With a target audience of more than 1,000 attendees from over 275 companies and 35 countries, MEF18 is the premier networking event of the year for senior professionals, also offering participation in different technical streams.

The Best MEF 3.0 Implementation Project 2018 award was assigned to a project developed by Sparkle in cooperation with Amartus, ECI Telecom, Equinix, Liquid Telecom, Spirent and Tata Communications, aimed at implementing the architecture and the API (Application Programming Interface) LSO (Lifecycle Service Orchestration) on several domains, testing technological automation and virtualization processes and platforms for the automated management of the lifecycle of MEF3.0 services in a context of intercontinental networks.

The Silver PoC Award went to the Proof of Concept presented by Sparkle in partnership with operators CBCcom, PCCW Global, Tata Communications and with technology providers Clear Blockchain Technologies and Cataworx, with the aim of proving the capacity of TLC operators to introduce new-generation services at record speed thanks to the innovations introduced by blockchain technology and artificial intelligence.

The MEF PoC Awards are assigned to the Proof of Concept that shows the capacity to orchestrate dynamic services through automated, virtualized and interconnected networks compliant with MEF 3.0 standards. The winners of the MEF PoC Awards were selected by a jury of analysts from the most important research and consulting companies worldwide.

Sparkle is a member of MEF since 2011. Since then, the operator has pioneered and promoted the use of MEF guidelines, becoming the first service provider in the EMEA region to obtain CE 1.0 and CE 2.0 certification for access services and the first European operator to be certified for MEF 100G Carrier Ethernet 2.0 for E-Line (EPL & EVPL) services, and has distinguished itself as one of the major promoters of the MEF LSO architecture since 2015, thanks to the introduction of a Service Orchestrator for Carrier Ethernet on-demand services.
