Diplomacy and Economics: The Crisis Unit of the Farnesina and Assolombarda together for the security of Italian companies abroad

Milan, 16 May 2019 – The Letter of Intent with which the Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Assolombarda lay the foundations for a long-term collaboration on the prevention and security of companies abroad and on the management of emergency situations, was signed today in Milan.

“This approach that the Crisis Unit intends to take with determination – commented Stefano Verrecchia, Head of the Crisis Unit – is consistent with our institutional mandate which is to protect and assist all Italian citizens who go abroad, including those who travel for professional reasons and for business activities”.

“We are very satisfied with the agreement signed today with the Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We are taking a course of shared knowledge and experience in the context of an increasingly intense collaboration between institutions and the business world – said Alessandro Scarabelli, Director General of Assolombarda. This is an additional tool for protecting the safety of workers and companies that operate abroad, with special attention being paid to the small and medium-sized companies that are increasingly present on international markets “.

In the context of an increasingly intense collaboration between institutional entities and the business world, the Letter of Intent intends to be a model for the world of business associations which also envisages seminars and information activities “to strengthen the diffusion of a culture of prevention – Verrecchia added – thanks to which companies can correctly identify, analyze and manage the risks deriving from the main security threats in the world: terrorism, socio-political crises, natural disasters, health emergencies, maritime piracy”.

In addition to the travel advisories posted on the Travel Safely portal, with over 13 million hits per year (which will soon be completely renewed and accessible through a new APP for mobile devices), the Crisis Unit has a dedicated channel within the Where we are in the world portal for companies that send Italian personnel abroad

Furthermore, Assolombarda will create a channel directly connected to  the portal of the Crisis Unit and relevant web services through its platform rsppitalia.com which is dedicated to the topic of health and safety at work.
