Italian Economic Diplomacy 07 July: latest world news

GREECE – INAUGURATION OF A NEW SECTION OF THE ATHENS METRO LINE 3, BUILT BY THE GHELLA COMPANY.

In the presence of Prime Minister Mitsotakis and Minister of Infrastructures and Transport Karamanlis, three new stations of the Athens metro line 3, and the related section, were inaugurated by a consortium led by the Italian company Ghella, which oversaw almost 90% of the execution of the works.

The three stations (Aghia Varvara, Korydallos and Nikea) make up 53% of a larger project to extend Line 3 in Athens (for a total of 7.5 kilometres) which will be completed next year with the construction of three more stations, in an advanced state of completion. Once the new section has been completed, Line 3 will allow direct access to the Port of Piraeus from Venizelos International Airport, thus facilitating traffic especially during the tourist season. It is estimated that the new lines will serve 60,000 people per day.
