NORWAY – ITALY’S NOVAMONT (BIOPLASTICS) ACQUIRES THE NORWEGIAN BIOBAG
Novamont SpA, a world leader in producing bioplastics and developing by-products by means of chemical, environmental, and agricultural integration, has announced the acquisition of the BioBag Group, a leading Norwegian Company in low impact solutions for the packaging sectors, and for separate collection of biowaste.
This acquisition will allow Novamont to benefit from BioBag’s specialist distribution network in geographical areas in which Novamont is less conspicuous (especially North America, the Scandinavian Countries, Eastern Europe, and Australia).
Together, these two companies will be able to offer the market a more complete range of solutions, and create alliances with the major stakeholders, from large-scale distribution to local communities.
SPAIN – ENI ACQUIRES SPAIN’S ALDRO ENERGIA
Yesterday, ENI announced the acquisition of Aldro Energia, the Spanish electricity and gas marketing company, with a portfolio of about 250,000 clients in Spain and Portugal.
In line with the Group’s strategy to expand its presence in Europe, with the goal of offering energy services to 11 million clients by 2023, this operation gives ENI entry to the Spanish retail market, extending and diversifying its portfolio of activities on the Iberian Peninsula.
In fact, ENI is already active in Spain selling gas in the industrial sector, and marketing engine oil via ENI Iberia, and chemical products via its Spanish branch, Versalis.
Having sold its network of Galp service stations in 2008, ENI is expected to return to the fuel supply sector on Spanish roads next spring, having won two contracts last year for managing some service areas on the Ap6 and Ap7 motorways.
By acquiring Aldro Energia, ENI aims to extend its presence on the Iberian Peninsula, to reach a portfolio of at least one million clients by the end of 2023.
