“The news of the killing of Father Basilious Nassarand Head of the Red Crescent Abdulrazak Jbero yesterday in Syria has struck and pained me very deeply”. This was the comment by Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi, who was forced to postpone his visit to London as a result of a heavy attack of influenza.
Minister Terzi underscored that “episodes such as this must convince us to spare no effort at avoiding these worst of scenarios that only contribute to the intensification of terrorist violence in Syria”.
“The only path”, Terzi continued, “is that of peaceful transition along the lines suggested by the Arab League. It is the only one”, the minister asserted, “capable of preventing further losses of human life and protecting the religious communities living in that country”.
