Foreign Minister Emma Bonino was in Palma de Mallorca today to attend the Meeting on the Future of Europe, an encounter meant to confront the principal political/economic problems associated with the future of the Union, ahead of the European elections in 2014.
Also in anticipation of the Italian EU duty Presidency in the second half of 2014, Minister Bonino raised the theme of the EU’s political/institutional prospects and of the democratic participation of citizens in a renewed European integration process.
The meeting ended with the adoption of the Declaration of Mallorca that called for “a strong, competitive and engaged Europe with more solidarity and a greater presence in the world”.
