Italy firmly condemns the atrocious wave of violence in Iraq, which is creating many innocent victims, and extends its solidarity to the Iraqi people. Our country also expresses its concern over the sectarian violence against religious and ethnic minorities, violence that has again been seen recently.
Italy supports the efforts of the Iraqi authorities and all religious leaders to prevent an escalation of violence in the country and the disintegration of the social fabric of the ancient nation of Iraq and its young democracy.
