Minister Bonino met the Minister Delegate for French Nationals Abroad, Hélène Conway-Mouret, at the Farnesina today, 7 October 2013. Their discussion focused on the rationalisation of the diplomatic-consular network currently taking place in France and Italy and the need to improve security in diplomatic missions in high-risk countries.
Minister Conway-Mouret illustrated the French policy designed to respond to the growing demand for services through a more flexible use of existing resources and a stronger emphasis on information technology.
The two ministers also explored potential synergies to provide consular services in states where only France or Italy has diplomatic or consular missions.
