2014 World Cup: services for Italian nationals in Brazil boosting

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy and consular network of Italy in Brazil will be boosting assistance and protection services for Italian nationals going to attend the World Soccer Cup games.

Two crisis modules have been set up, one in Brasilia and one in Rio de Janeiro, along with a mobile consular unit that will be operating in the cities where our national team is playing (Manaus, Natal e Recife).

Additionally, in collaboration with the TIM Brasile phone service provider, a toll free land-line and mobile phone number (08007048354) in Italian and Portuguese will be operational through 20 July. To phone from abroad, dial +55 31 3211 8921 and the cost of the call will be calculated by the roaming telephone operator. During the games, the service will be active 24 hours a day, and from hours of 8:00 to 20:00 from 14 to 20 July.

You can also write for information and advice on staying in Brazil at brasilia.mondiali@esteri.it. We would also remind you that the MFA has a “focus” section on the World Cup with information on security, health, weather and logistics in the Brazilian cities hosting the matches. Italian nationals are, as always, urged to register on the website www.dovesiamonelmondo.it by which the Crisis Unit is able to reach them by text message with advisories or in emergencies.

The Italian embassy in Brasilia is also promoting a series of cultural events – Italia Na Copa – to take place in the main Brazilian cities from 16 May to 30 June to showcase Italian excellence (http://www.italianacopa.com).
