Nucleare: della vedova a conferenza generale Aiea

Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs Benedetto Della Vedova spoke today in Vienna, on behalf of Italy and the European Union, at the 58th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency. “We invite those countries that have not yet adhered to the treaty of non-proliferation to do so”, the under-secretary urged, expressing “the EU’s concern for the serious threats to the non-proliferation system”. Regarding nuclear negotiations with Iran, Della Vedova underscored “the importance and urgency of Iran’s full collaboration with the IAEA”, an issue that he reintroduced in a subsequent meeting with the agency’s Director General Ambassador Yukiya Amano, whose actions and commitment with regard to the issue he applauded.

In a meeting with Italian IAEA officers, Della Vedova expressed complete support for their expectations of professional development in the interests of Italy’s adequate representation in the agency.
