Under-Secretary Mario Giro is taking part in the 24th Ibero-American Summit taking place in Veracruz, Mexico and bringing together the countries of Latin America, Spain and Portugal. As with last year’s summit, in Panama, Giro is representing the Italian Government, which atends as an observer.
“Italy’s observer status at the Summit is indicative of our role in Latin America and our excellent relations with the Ibero-American Organisation, which is based in Spain. Every initiative that strengthens relations between Europe and Latin America is both welcome and valuable, as the economic potential of such relations has by no means been grasped in full”, declared Under-Secretary Giro.
“The Veracruz Summit will most certainly contribute to the 7th Italy-Latin America and Caribbean Conference taking place in Milan in June 2015. One reason for my presence here is to personally invite all the heads of delegation to attend this important conference and to ensure that it attracts the fullest possible participation, at the highest political levels”, concluded Giro.
