Increased Italian support for Pacific States hit by cyclone Pam

The Italian Cooperation has earmarked an overall 400,000 euro for the benefit of the Pacific States seriously affected by cyclone Pam.

After an initial contribution of 300,000 euro to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for the activities under way in Vanuatu, the Farnesina gave an additional 100,000 euro to the same Federation for the island of Tuvalu within the framework of the regional response plan.

In collaboration with national Red Cross societies, a series of emergency interventions will concern temporary lodgings, healthcare, water and hygienic facilities and food. The emergency activities will be integrated with other interventions aimed at strengthening local for disaster preparation and response.
