Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni received Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iceland Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson today at the Farnesina.
The meeting offered an opportunity for an exchange of views on regional crises and other current international concerns. In particular, the two ministers discussed management of the migration emergency, the Ukraine crisis, relations with Russia and cooperation in the Arctic region.
Gentiloni expressed appreciation for Iceland’s contribution of a coast guard vessel within the framework of the Triton mission of recent months, calling it “the gesture of a nation friend”.
Sveinsson and Gentiloni confirmed the excellent status of bilateral relations along with their hopes strengthen economic relations in high-potential sectors such geothermics.
