Cooperation: the joint development cooperation committee approves its first resolutions

“Thanks to the new code of procedures, the guidelines and the procedures approved today, civil society organisations and other non-profit organisations will be able to play an active part in the Italian development cooperation system. It is an important new stage on the route to reform Italian cooperation”. Thus commented the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, who today at the Palazzo della Farnesina chaired the first meeting of the Joint Development Cooperation Committee, in the presence of the Director General of development cooperation and the Director of the Italian Development Cooperation Agency.

Mr Gentiloni closed by stressing “the important strategic investment made by the government, which has allocated an additional 120 million euros for development cooperation activities in 2016, thereby increasing the resources assigned by Palazzo della Farnesina by 40%”.
