Meeting between the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Amendola and the Tuscany Councillor for Agriculture Remaschi

A meeting between the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Vincenzo Amendola, and the Councillor for Agriculture of the Region of Tuscany, Marco Remaschi, took place today at the headquarters of the Italian Foreign Ministry in a climate of dialogue and fruitful cooperation. The meeting has further clarified the scope of the agreement on maritime delimitations between Italy and France signed in Caen 21 March 2015. In particular, special attention was drawn to the fact that the Caen Agreement does not change the Italian baseline for the Tuscan archipelago, thus leaving the existing situation unmodified. The agreement instead provides a higher degree of certainty over the extension of marine areas subject to national sovereignty, a subject which falls within the framework of the bilateral agreement with France. Given the complexity of the matter, the undersecretary Amendola and councillor Remaschi have agreed to keep the dialogue open.
Councillor Remaschi said that in the coming days further investigations will be carried out in cooperation with the Ministry responsible for fisheries.
