Today the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, received at the Farnesina the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Davor Ivo Stier.

The talks focused on the excellence of bilateral relations. “Italy is Croatia’s second-largest trade partner,” said Minister Alfano, underscoring that “there is room to further bolster economic relations and Italian investments in the Country.”

Minister Alfano confirmed Rome’s and Zagreb’s common commitment to strengthen the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Countries of the Western Balkans. In this perspective, “of particular relevance is the upcoming Western Balkans Summit, which will be hosted next year in Italy, currently the Chair of the Process,” he said. “The main aim of this meeting – the Minister added – will be to give further political impulse to the region’s European integration prospects and favour its stabilisation also by supporting these Countries’ sustainable growth.”

The meeting also offered the opportunity to take stock of the main bilateral and regional issues of common interest.
