Angelino Alfano, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received the President of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, Noemi Di Segni, at the Farnesina today.

During the cordial meeting, Minister Alfano discussed with Ms Di Segni the current state of the Jewish communities in Italy and focused on the Memorial Day, which will be celebrated on 27 January, to remember the victims of the Holocaust.

“I am pleased for the excellent relations that exist between UCEI [Union of Italian Jewish Communities] and the Italian institutions. I can guarantee that our government will pay the utmost attention to the work carried out by the Jewish communities in order to promote a common dialogue with a spirit of collaboration and respect for the traditions and the history of your community,” said Minister Alfano to President Di Segni. The latter invited Mr. Alfano to participate in the “Run for Memory” event, scheduled to take place in Rome on 21 January.
