Minister Alfano to hold institutional meetings in the United Arab Emirates

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, will be in the United Arab Emirates on 29 and 30 January where he will have a number of institutional meetings.

“The mission to the UAE, performed concomitantly to the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two Countries, marks a new milestone in the path towards strongly relaunching bilateral relations and confirms the importance that Italy attributes to the political and economic partnership with the Abu Dhabi Government,” said Minister Alfano. He added: “With this mission, Italy confirms its intention to develop and strengthen the relations between Italy and the Emirates in the different areas of common interest.”

Mr Alfano is due to arrive in Dubai in the afternoon of 29 January, where he will be greeted by the Italian Ambassador, Liborio Stellino, and by Colonel Daniele De Cesari, the Commander of the Italian Task Force Air.

At 7 p.m. local time, the Minister will preside over the meeting to coordinate the representatives of the business community residing in the UAE.

On 30 January, the Foreign Minister will travel to the capital of the UAE where he is scheduled to meet with the Director General of IRENA, Adnan Amin at 10:30 a.m.

At the end of the meeting, Mr Alfano will meet with the National Security Advisor, Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and will subsequently attend a meeting with his counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, scheduled at 1:30 p.m. at the Foreign Ministry.

Later in the afternoon, Mr Alfano will meet with the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
