Munich: Alfano to the macedonian deputy prime minister, Poposki: “We stand by your side to speed up Skopje european integration.”

“Italy firmly supports the European integration process of Macedonia and is ready to give its contribution to finding a solution to the internal political crisis ,which is currently hindering the implementation of the process. It is in the interest of the people of Macedonia that all players involved act in a responsible fashion and cooperate to overcome the current institutional impasse.” The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation made this comment urging the Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Poposki, to press ahead along thepath towards the country’s political normalization.
“A stable Macedonia is essential for the stability of the Western Balkans, and in turn it is essential for  Europe’s internal stability,” continued Alfano who went on to discuss with his Macedonian counterpart the priorities on the agenda of  the upcoming Western Balkans Summit, which Italy, its current President, will host in Trieste in July.The two ministers expressed their satisfaction for the excellent level of the bilateral relations, also confirming the intense ongoing political dialogue between Rome and Skopje. While hoping for the economic cooperation between the two countries to grow furthe, Alfano and Poposki finally agreed on the management of migration flows and the fight against radicalization and terrorism as the areas where bilateral cooperation between the two countries could be enhanced.
