The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano:
“We welcome the latest news coming from Tirana in these past few hours indicating a positive outcome of the dialogue between political parties in Albania, aimed at jointly establishing the timeline and procedures for the next parliamentary elections in Albania.
We hope that an agreement on this may be finalised soon, so as to further reinforce the democratic process in Albania and thereby put Tirana back on track towards its full integration in Europe.
Italy considers this path to be essential and unavoidable to assure the region’s stability and prosperity and will continue to firmly support it in every context, beginning with its current rotating presidency of the Western Balkans Process.”
