The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, will attend the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday, 17 July, in Brussels. He is scheduled to arrive at the Europa Building at around 9:50 a.m. The meeting will be opened at 10:00 by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.
Among the points open to debate, the Council agenda includes a reflection on the priorities to follow in the implementation of the EU Global Strategy and an exchange of ideas on the relations of the European Union with North Korea. The foreign ministers will also discuss the Libyan dossier in view of the recent appointment of the new UN Special Representative for Libya, the Lebanese Ghassan Salame’.
Later, at 1:30 p.m. Minister Alfano, together with the other 27 foreign ministers and the Union’s High Representative, will attend a working lunch with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Filippo Grandi, and the Director-General of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), William Lacy Swing, dedicated to the subject of migration flows along the Central Mediterranean route.
While in Brussels, Minister Alfano will also attend a working breakfast at the invitation of the president of the European People’s Party, Joseph Daul.
