Minister Alfano meets with his counterpart Zaharieva

“I am particularly pleased with the excellent level of bilateral relations between our two countries and our very intense political dialogue. We wish to press ahead with our political consultations, also in view of the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Ekaterina Zaharieva, at a meeting at the Farnesina in Rome.Minister Alfano continued: “Our economic cooperation is extremely important. Bilateral trade is growing steadily, and Italy has become Bulgaria’s second most important trade partner. I believe that there is ample margin to grow especially in terms of investment following  Bulgaria’s commitment to continue promoting the business climate between our two countries.”The agenda for the meeting also included: regional cooperation, particularly the European integration process in the Western Balkans, relations with Turkey and Russia and management of migration flows.
