“We are very satisfied with the designation of Rome as the seat of the Permanent Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean. The success of the candidacy of the City of Rome is the fruit of the intense teamwork between the Government and the Parliament,” affirmed the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, referring to the decision of the Organisation’s Bureau. He added: “In fact, the Foreign Ministry actively supported the candidacy, also through the diplomatic network, ever since it was presented last March.”
The decision to bring to Rome the new Permanent Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the UfM, which unites the representatives of the Parliaments of the 43 Countries bordering on the Mediterranean, acknowledges Italy’s action in favour of cooperation and dialogue between the two shores of the Mediterranean.
