Minister Moavero Milanesi on the information released following the telephone conversation between the French President, Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor, Angela Merkel

“We agree with the statements made by President Macron and Chancellor Merkel in a recent telephone conversation as to the need for a coordinated European solution to the issue of combating human traffickers, receiving the people entitled to asylum in the EU and, more in general, of meeting the challenge of migration. This position corresponds to what Italy has long been asking for and to the conclusions of the European Council of 28 June, which unequivocably call on European Partners to undertake a common, stable and well-structured commitment on the issue of migration flows. We will continue to promote the prompt implementation of this approach in all the relevant European venues.” This was the statement made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Enzo Moavero Milanesi, in commenting yesterday’s telephone conversation between the French President, Emmanuel Macron, and the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.
