The excellence of Apulian enogastronomy showcased at the OSCE Permanent Council

Apulia introduced itself in today’s meeting of the Permanent Council of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe), in which Italy holds the Chairmanship this year.

Thanks to the Italian Chairmanship of the OSCE and the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, the Apulia Region described its world-class wine and food products, culture, traditions and landscapes today at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna.

“The Italian Chairmanship of the OSCE has offered our Region the possibility to promote Apulia’s food, wine, landscapes and art’, Mr. Leonardo di Gioia stated, Councilor for Agro-Food Resources of the Apulia Regional Government. He also added: “In the presence of about 150 delegates from 57 countries, we have offered a taste of our land, the quality of our products and the beauty of our landscapes, also thanks to the presence of Apulian chef Felice Sgarra.”

“We told the story of an extraordinary land, with a diversified culture, history, landscapes and traditions, with extremely attractive resources for tourists,” Mr. di Gioia added. “These include our traditional farmsteads, ancient and fascinating rural buildings that are used as farms and hotels. We have been able to diversify farming activities and organize tourist itineraries, which bring together beautiful landscapes, good food, nature, sports and a welcoming attitude”.

“2018 was declared the Year of Italian food,” Ambassador Luca Fratini, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Italian government at the OSCE. “Holding the Chairmanship of a great multilateral organization, we are proud to present our food and wine heritage to our colleagues and diplomatic representatives of 57 countries”.
This event is part of a series of presentations for world-class food and wine products in Italian regions, organized by the Italian Chairmanship of the OSCE and the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces. The Italian Chairmanship will end in December.
